It is the mission of Gaston Adolescent Center, Inc. to provide outstanding behavioral

This program serves children ages 5 to 18. It is designed and scheduled to meet the
individual needs of children whose behaviors and/or emotional problems interfere
with them attending public school. Services are available for up to six hours every
weekday, as needed, throughout the calendar year. Children are provided therapeutic
services that address social and behavioral problems, anger management and help building
skills such as effective communication. Children also receive group and family therapy;
tutoring and home bound schooling from a licensed teacher, therapeutic recreation,
and other specialized therapeutic activities. The program's treatment approach is
Positive Actions which is the Thoughts-Actions-Feelings Circle where positive thoughts
lead to positive actions, positive actions lead to positive feelings about ones self
and positive feelings lead to more positive thoughts and behaviors.
This program serves children ages 5 to 18 who have severe emotional problems or have
a hard time within the family unit which put them at risk of being placed outside
the home for treatment. This service is provided by a team of three professionals,
including a licensed clinician and two coordinators who work with each child and
their family using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques (CBT).
This is a service that provides individual, group and/or family psychotherapy and
consultative services to children ages 5 through 18, and their families. Outpatient
Therapy is provided by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Professional
Counselor that provides therapy in a private office setting. Therapy sessions can
occur on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, depending on the need of the child and/or family.
Gaston Adolescent Center, Inc. provide referral services to local Licensed Psychiatrist that can assess, evaluate and monitor the need and the use of medication in treatment or stabilizing behaviors and mood disorders with the use of medications.
Case Management is the coordination of services and resources to meet, manage and
monitor the needs of clients receiving services. Services include intake, assessment
of needs, service planning, service plan implementation, service coordination, monitoring
and follow-up, reassessment, case conferencing, crisis intervention, and case closure.
Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCA)
A Comprehensive Clinical Assessment is a screening that is used to assess the overall
physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness of a person. A CCA is used to
determine the diagnosis and the needed services for a recipient seeking mental health
